Human trafficking is one of the fasted growing industries in the world. Currently, there are more slaves in the world than the population of London, New York, and Los Angeles combined.

It is a scourge that inflicts untold suffering on marginalized women and girls across the globe. Of the 800,000 people trafficked across national borders annually, 63 percent are women trafficked specifically for sexual exploitation.

The average age of a sex-trafficked victim is 12 years old. Many trafficked children are toddlers and babies.

95% of trafficked victims do not “choose” their lifestyle. Trafficked persons are usually lured and groomed by false offers of normal jobs, or men people posing as boyfriends.

Violence and threats of violence are often used as a means of control to force trafficked persons to perform sexual services. They are usually held as prisoners under extreme control and abuse.
